Story Booth - Alex Epstein 25/5

Story Booth is a special project commissioned by the Writers Festival. The master of short-short stories Alex Epstein will hold a four-day residency during the festival, in which he will offer festival visitors immortality by turning them into characters in his stories. Mishkenot Sha’ananim’s picturesque windmill will serve as a meeting place, where Epstein will have a ten-minute personal conversation with each visitor, who will tell him about the most important event in his or her life. The stories written in the wake of these encounters will be published in a digital platform during the festival, giving participants the opportunity to share online the story that was inspired by them.

The project was born from the desire to take a step back and offer an alternative option of “analog” knowledge in an age of digital databases: Epstein himself will function as a human “search engine”, gathering fragmentary glimpses into a fictional character and a work of art. We hope that the unmediated encounters will rekindle a spark that has been lost.
